Good Ole Prawn Cocktail

Good Ole Prawn Cocktail with shredded lettuce, lemon and cucumber

Classic prawn cocktail.

Now this starter is an all-time fav of mine, but you can have this as a main. Why not. Fresh, quick and easy to make.

Ingredients

  • 20 x cooked tiger prawns (cleaned)
  • lemon juice, to taste
  • 1 Little Gem lettuce
  • 2 Slices of lemon
  • 2 slices of cucumber 
  • Cayenne pepper, to serve

For the cocktail sauce

  1. 2 Tbsp of Hot Pepper Sauce 
  2. 4 tbsp tomato ketchup
  3. 4 tbsp mayonnaise
  4. 1 pinch cayenne pepper
  5. Pinch of salt
  6. 1 tsp cracked black pepper

Prep Instructions

  1. Shredd the Gem lettuce and place in ice-cold water to crisp it up.
  2. For the sauce, mix all the ingredients together. (You can add more Hot Pepper Sauce if you like it hotter).
  3. To assemble the cocktails, drain the lettuce and pat dry with kitchen towel paper. Arrange the lettuce in small glass bowls.
  4. Add lemon to prawns and add the prawns to the cocktail sauce.
  5. Place the mixture of prawns and sauce on top of the lettuce.
  6. Top prawns with a sprinkling of cayenne pepper.
  7. Place the sliced lemon and cucumber on the side of the dish.
  8. Enjoy!
